A 2nd wooden head
Ok, the biggest thing I learned from making the first head is trim down the log before you try to start turning it on the lathe. It might be really fun to make a lot of extra shavings but it just dulls your tools and takes extra time. This time around I used the chain saw to cut it close to the desired diameter
I copied the same general shape as the first head and things went much faster this time around. Hopefully that means I learned something!
I proceeded to do the same hollowing and surface treatment as I did the first time. Thankfully this log was much drier than the first and I didn't really need to put it in the mirowave to help dry it. So here are the two heads complete with hats.
